Terms & Conditions

Agreement to Terms

Welcome to iloveutil. These are the Terms and Conditions ("Terms") that govern your use of our website and tools. We know that most people do not read these documents carefully, but we have tried to write this in relatively plain language so you understand what you are agreeing to when you use our services.

By accessing iloveutil.com (the "Website") or using any of our online tools (the "Services"), you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use our Services. Continuing to use the site after we update these Terms means you accept the changes.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and iloveutil ("we," "us," or "our"). This is a standard legal structure for websites, but the key things to understand are: use our tools responsibly, do not abuse the service, and recognize that we provide these tools for free without guarantees. The rest of this document explains those points in more detail along with some necessary legal protections.

Use of Services

Permitted Use

You may use our Services for lawful purposes only. We built these tools to be useful for real work, and you can use them freely for whatever legitimate tasks you have. This includes:

  • Personal use: Compressing photos for social media, merging family documents, formatting code for personal projects
  • Commercial use: Processing client files, preparing business documents, optimizing website images, calculating financial figures
  • Educational purposes: Student assignments, academic research, learning programming concepts
  • Professional work: Developer debugging, designer work, content creation, business operations
  • Development and testing: Testing workflows, building integrations, evaluating tool capabilities

There are no artificial usage limits or restrictions based on how you are using the tools. Personal users and commercial users have the same access. We do not track whether you are using the PDF merger for family documents or client contracts— both are fine.

Prohibited Use

We keep this list pretty straightforward. Basically, do not use our tools to do anything illegal, do not try to break the site, and do not abuse the service. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Use the Services for any illegal, harmful, or fraudulent purpose: Processing files containing illegal content, creating fake documents, facilitating fraud
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any tool: We built these tools and they are our intellectual property; you can use them but not steal the code
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to abuse or overload the Services: Running thousands of automated requests per second to DOS the site or scrape content
  • Attempt to circumvent any security measures or access restrictions: Trying to hack into systems or bypass rate limiting
  • Use the Services to distribute malware, spam, or harmful content: Using our tools as part of a malware distribution workflow
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers: Deliberate attacks on availability or performance
  • Remove, modify, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices: Stripping our branding and claiming the tools as your own
  • Frame or mirror any part of the Services without written permission: Embedding our tools in your site without permission in a way that makes them appear to be yours

Most of this is common sense. Use the tools for legitimate work, do not try to break things, do not abuse the free access. If you have questions about whether a specific use case is allowed, reach out through the contact form.

Important: All tools process data entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not upload, store, or transmit your files or data to any server. Your data remains completely private on your device.

User Responsibilities

As a user of our Services, you have some basic responsibilities. These are mostly common sense practices you should follow anyway when working with digital files:

  • Data Backup: Keep copies of your original files before processing them. If you compress an image and lose quality you needed, or merge PDFs in the wrong order, you want the originals available. This is basic digital hygiene.
  • Data Accuracy: Check the results before using them for important purposes. If you calculate EMI for a loan application, verify the numbers make sense. If you compress an image for print, make sure the quality is acceptable. Our tools work well, but you are responsible for confirming the output meets your needs.
  • Browser Compatibility: Use a modern, up-to-date web browser. Very old browsers might not support the JavaScript features our tools rely on. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge—anything recent works fine.
  • Internet Connection: You need internet to load the page initially. Once loaded, most tools work without network access, but you need that initial connection to download the tool code to your browser.
  • Sensitive Data: Exercise good judgment when processing highly sensitive or confidential information. Our tools process everything locally in your browser for privacy, but you still bear responsibility for how you handle sensitive files.
  • Legal Compliance: Make sure your use of our tools complies with laws and regulations that apply to you. If your industry has specific requirements about document handling or data processing, those are your responsibility to follow.

None of this is meant to be onerous. It is just standard best practices for using any digital tools responsibly. Back up your files, check your work, use a modern browser, follow applicable laws. Pretty straightforward.

Privacy and Data Processing

Our approach to privacy is simple and transparent:

  • Client-Side Processing: All tool operations happen in your browser. Your files and data never leave your device.
  • No Server Storage: We do not store, access, or retain any files, documents, or data you process through our tools.
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand website usage. See our Privacy Policy for details.
  • Advertising: We use Google AdSense to display ads. See our Privacy Policy for details.

For complete information about data collection and usage, please review our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers and Warranties

Important Legal Notice

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

This is standard legal language that basically means: we provide these tools for free and they work well for most people, but we cannot guarantee they will work perfectly for every possible use case or that they will never have bugs or issues. You use them at your own risk.

More specifically, we do not warrant that:

  • The Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free: Sometimes servers go down, browsers have bugs, or internet connections drop. We try to keep things running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime.
  • The results obtained from using the Services will be accurate or reliable: Our tools work correctly for their intended purposes, but you should verify important outputs. If you are compressing an image for a billboard, check that the quality is good enough. If you are calculating loan interest, confirm the math.
  • The quality of any tools, information, or services will meet your expectations: We think our tools are pretty good, but your expectations might differ. What seems like sufficient image compression to one person might be insufficient to another.
  • Any errors or defects will be corrected: If we discover a bug, we will try to fix it. But we cannot promise a specific timeline or guarantee every possible issue gets resolved.

You use the Services at your own risk. This is why we recommend keeping backups of original files and verifying important outputs. These tools are free and useful, but they come without the formal warranties you might get from expensive commercial software with support contracts.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ILOVEUTIL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
  • Cost of substitute services or goods
  • Business interruption or loss of goodwill

This limitation applies whether based on warranty, contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless iloveutil, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the Services
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any content or data you process through our tools

Third-Party Services

Our Services may contain links to third-party websites or services, including:

  • Google Analytics 4 (for website analytics)
  • Google AdSense (for advertising)
  • External resources and documentation links

These third-party services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party services.

Advertising

We display advertisements through Google AdSense to support our free services. By using our Services, you understand and agree that:

  • Advertisements may be displayed on various pages
  • Ad content is controlled by Google and third-party advertisers
  • We are not responsible for the content or accuracy of advertisements

  • You may opt out of personalized ads through Google Ads Settings

Service Modifications and Termination

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time
  • Change these Terms with or without notice
  • Refuse service to anyone for any reason
  • Remove or modify tools and features

We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Services.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when these Terms were last revised. Changes become effective when posted.

Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If resolution is not possible, disputes may be subject to binding arbitration or court proceedings as permitted by law.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and iloveutil regarding the Services and supersede any prior agreements.

Frequently Asked Questions About Terms

Can I use these tools for my business or client work?

Yes, absolutely. Commercial use is explicitly permitted. Whether you are a freelancer compressing images for client websites, a business owner preparing documents, a developer building products, or an agency managing multiple clients, you can use these tools freely. There is no distinction between personal and commercial users—everyone has the same access to all features.

Are there usage limits or will I hit a paywall after a certain number of uses?

No usage limits, no paywalls, no premium tiers. You can use any tool as many times as you need. Compress fifty images in a row, merge ten PDFs, format a hundred JSON files—go ahead. The only constraint is your browser's processing capability, not arbitrary restrictions we impose. This is genuinely free without catches.

What happens if I accidentally process a file incorrectly? Can you recover the original?

No, we cannot recover anything because we never have your files in the first place. All processing happens in your browser locally. If you compress an image too much or merge PDFs in the wrong order, we have no way to undo that or retrieve the original because the file never left your device. This is why we emphasize keeping backups of originals before processing. The privacy benefit (we never see your files) comes with the trade-off that we cannot help recover from mistakes.

Can I embed these tools on my own website or redistribute them?

Not without permission. The tools and their code are our intellectual property. You can link to our website and specific tool pages—that is encouraged. But you cannot copy our code, embed our tools in an iframe pretending they are yours, or redistribute modified versions. If you want to integrate our tools into your workflow or website in some way, contact us and we can discuss options.

What happens if a tool has a bug and causes problems for me?

We are not liable for issues arising from tool bugs or errors. This sounds harsh, but it is standard for free services. We do our best to make the tools work correctly and will fix bugs when we find them. But if a tool malfunctions and causes you some kind of loss—say you used a calculator wrong and made a bad financial decision, or a compression tool degraded an important image—we are not responsible. This is the trade-off for free, no-warranty software. You should verify important outputs and keep backups.

Can you change these Terms whenever you want?

Technically yes, we reserve that right. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top when we make changes. For minor updates (fixing typos, clarifying language), we probably will not notify anyone. For major changes that materially affect user rights or responsibilities, we would try to provide some notice. Your continued use of the site after changes means you accept the new Terms. If you disagree with updated Terms, you should stop using the service.

Can you shut down the site or remove tools without warning?

Yes, we reserve that right. We do not plan to shut down the site—it serves a purpose and people use it. But if we decided to discontinue a specific tool or the entire service, we could do so. This is a free service without contracts or service-level agreements. We are not obligated to keep anything running indefinitely. That said, we have no current plans to shut down and are actively adding new tools.

What if I have a question or concern about these Terms?

Contact us through the Contact Page. We are a small team and we read messages. If you have a question about whether a specific use is allowed, or you are confused about any part of these Terms, or you want to discuss some kind of partnership or integration, reach out. We cannot provide legal advice, but we can clarify our policies and discuss options.
